Is there anywhere, other than the supermarket, where you can get cheap drinks in Paris?

I'm going to Bastille next week and would like to know if there are any bars within a feasible distance that aren't as extortionate as I have been quoted by friends (up to 7euros for a pint of beer?) thanks :)
