Could there be a sentient Galaxy?

could there be a galaxy full of life at one point, then it evolved to such a state that the galaxy was sentient with all the thoughts were are and were of anyone who ever lived in it, and it had powers far beyond our comprehension? now this theory doesn't support a god or a religion, at best,i could be for Intelligent design, but not so far as to say that a god created life AND evolution, possibly the ingredients for life and such, now i don't really believe it as there is no evidence, but it is an interesting idea, do you think this would be feasible at all?
