My parents won't decorate my room? Help?

Im now 16 and all my life i have gone without ever having friends over because of my house. Basically its really messy and undecorated. It is really starting to depress me as i can't go in my kitchen and cook something as we don't have appliances, i can't have a decent shower without spiders jumping out at me or soaking the room underneath the bathroom. My bedroom is just a bed and a desk table. My wardrobe is non-existant .. And my parents blame me for having a messy room when there is nothing and nowhere to put my stuff including my clothes. I'v lived like this for too long now i want to change.. I want to have my boyfriend over and have sleepovers like normal people and at least have a socail life. I can't do anything about the rest of the house but i am thinking of building a wardrobe and some storage space .. i have no idea how to do this... Any ideas how i can persuade my parents to get their act together?
